So you want to host or attend a party? Here’s what you need to know.
What types of parties do you offer?
Designz by Heather offers a wide range of parties for all ages and events. A fun night out, kid’s or adult birthday parties, team building events, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, fundraisers and more. I now offer both STENCIL parties, when we use stenciled designs to create gorgeous painted wood signs and 3D GLOWFORGE parties where we use wood cutout design to create 3D layered looking signs and home decor. Depending on the type of projects we decide upon for your group, we could do stencil, 3D, or a bit of both. YOU DONT NEED TO BE CRAFTY OR KNOW HOW TO PAINT TO MAKE SOMETHING BEAUTUIFUL. I PROMISE YOU, THAT I WILL TEACH YOU STEP BY STEP, AND YOU WILL TAKE HOME SOMETHING THAT YOU WILL BE PROUD TO DISPLAY IN YOUR HOME OR GIVE AS A GIFT!
how do i book a party?
Simply call, email, or message me today. I try booking parties 1 month in advance, 2 weeks absolute minimum. This gives you as the host, time to connect with friends, and for people to sign up, order their design and pay. It also gives me time to prepare everything for your party. If you’re joining a public party, please follow the link on my website or social media. Private parties require a sign up of at least 6 people for local Cortland, Marathon, Dryden, McGraw areas. outskirts require 10 or more depending on your address. I will discuss this with you personally. I also require a REFUNDABLE $50 deposit to book your date. You get this back so long as you DON’T cancel the party and you meet the minimum person requirement. Designz by Heather does reserve the right to cancel the party if you don’t meet the minimum. I would still offer your projects as kits for you to do with your group as a craft night on your own time. For public events, a theme will be chosen already but for private parties, I will work with the host to come up with a variety of designs for your group. We can agree to a choose an open paint night, where guests can choose anything from my party design options or we can stick to a seasonal or holiday theme and just offer a few choices to your guests. Totally up to you and what will work best for your group. Options include (but not limited to) themes around home, kitchen, bath, laundry, funny, inspirational, religious, holiday, kids, baby, Mom, Dad, Grandparent, pets, animals, sports and hobbies, barn quilts, seasonal, occupational, and many personalized options. I have done clocks, Lazy Susan’s, serving trays, coat racks, key holders, small shelves and other small home accessory-type furnishings. Remember, I am all about “making your inspirations come to life”! **DON’T SEE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR?? CUSTOM DESIGNS CAN BE CREATED. PLEASE MESSAGE OR EMAIL ME DIRECTLY TO SET UP. A CUSTOM DESIGN FEE IS ADDED TO THIS SELECTION.
What are the host incentives?
Hostess receives her sign free (up to $50) with a party of 10 or more.
What should i wear or bring?
Don’t wear your best clothes, please! Be practical. We will be using paints, stains and sealers. I do have aprons available. Host needs to provide table and chairs, enough space to work on projects, and a small space for my supplies. Guests: you only need to bring yourself and whatever food and beverages you’ve planned in advance with your host.
What will you provide?
I will provide table cloths and all materials used in your project, along with other necessary tools and aprons. I also will bring a small folding table for paints. (I do have some tables and chairs available for an extra fee if needed)
How long will the party take?
Party times will vary depending on the project, but I find that 2-3 hours is typical, especially if you want time to chat and relax a bit with friends. If you are hosting, expect me to arrive 45 minutes early to set up, and about a half hour to clean up.
what to expect at the event

I will arrive early to set up. I will bring all of the wood sign blanks, stencils or 3D parts, paints and all of the other supplies needed for you to create your home decor project or sign. Paint colors are chosen at the event, although I highly recommend that you have an idea of what colors you my like to match the space where you plan to put your project. I will show you step by step how to make your sign or project from beginning to end using the same process I have perfected over the past 10 years while making and selling signs from home. It is recommended that outdoor signs, serving trays and oven boards be sealed at home yearly to maintain. I will give suggestions on products. I do bring some tools such as a hammer and nails, screws, drill, battery operated nail gun for frames, and a stapler for adding twine to hang. I also bring additional items like ribbon and accessories when needed for projects. I do my best to keep everyone on tract for time purposes. If you are far behind, you may have to take supplies home and finish on your own time. This may especially be true if we are using a public space that has been rented and has time restraints.
Payment
I accept all major credit cards, Paypal and Apple pay through my website, and I also have the PayPal and Venmo apps. All event orders have to be prepaid.
Refund Policy
No shows that have paid will be given the opportunity to pick their sign board, stencil, and limited supplies up in a “kit” with instructions to complete at home on their own time. Depending on circumstances and my discretion, canceled parties may be able to be re-booked for a later time. I reserve the right to cancel a party due to a low number of advanced registrations. I also reserve the right to cancel a party due to severe weather conditions in which the roads have been deemed unsafe to drive on. In this case, I will work with the host or public venue to reschedule. Credit can be given to those unable to attend rescheduled event, to use at a future event.
